How else will I charge my Motorola Razr?

Agree with most of the above but, even though he later dismissed it, the suggestion that maybe Mozilla could take over Android and make a go of it is laughable IMO. Maybe a decade ago.

They can have my Android when they pry it from my cold dead hands!

Google could, let’s say 10 years ago, afford to do anything, because almost anything would eventually bring in more search users and ads revenue. And so splitting up Google means killing all the individual parts and making practically all parts of the internet be a walled garden of someone’s own. It’s not that future is all rosy without breaking it up with entshittification and investors trying to get money out fast to spend on yachts and AI bets, but breaking it up would be genuinly terrible and it’s IMO crazy this is being discussed.

Big tech companies are so weird with their under-cooked and abandoned services. Be glad you didn’t by this TV series from Microsoft in 2017 when Windows Phone was still hot (???) because you can’t watch it on any other phone. (I almost bought it just now but thankfully checked the system requirements first).

Go Batman The Animated Series. Absolutely superior in every aspect.
Appropriate for 7 year olds? Some of that Batman stuff is pretty dark and it’s hard to tell by the ratings. Except maybe the R rated series I saw - I’m sure that’s out.
Hmmm, some of it is dark, kind of built into it. I would think Bruce losing his parents and then Robin hunting down his parents killers would possibly affect him. But this was broadcast on Saturday morning then weekdays on American TV, so major brakes on anything too dark or violent. Definitely PG.
Mark Hamill’s Joker, Harley Quinn introduced and so good she made it back into the comics as an official character and they are still making movies with her, fantastic episodes like my fave, a bunch of the bad guys playing poker while recounting the closest they got to offing the bat, second fave the Batman on trial for being responsible for making them freak criminals, etc. Can’t miss just for yourself.
Just finished the first episode of season 1 with my boy and it was fine. I’ll watch an episode daily with him and monitor it.
We finished season one last night. It took me a few episodes to get into it myself (or maybe the series creators were finding their feet) but it turned into something we all enjoy watching together in the evening.
Thankfully there are 3 more seasons because we recently watched the first two “Spider-verse” animated movies and the second one ended on a cliff hanger with the third installment nowhere in sight. When I explained to my boy there was no “3” yet and wouldn’t be for some time, the stunned look of his confusion on his face brought back a lot of painful memories from my own childhood. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that the third movie might not arrive for four years and, when it did, there would likely be fucking Ewoks in it.
-
Be prepared for a bit of a QA slide in season 4. But most of the great episodes are ahead.

Bought a 1 terabyte MicroSD card for $2.50 including shipping from AliExpress. I figured it was probably a scam but I was tired of deleting stuff to make room on my small Nintendo Switch storage and then deleting other stuff to re-download what I’d previously deleted. When I saw the 1TB card so cheap I figured I only had $2.50 to lose so I bought it.
The card arrived today and, as it turns out, it works fine. It might die tomorrow for all I know but it will just mean I have to re-download stuff to a new card. I wouldn’t store irreplaceable photos on it or stick it in a Windows PC because it might have Chinese spyware on it but I don’t see what damage it can do by having access to my Switch.
Anyway, I’m know I’m not comparing apples with apples here but why the fuck in 2024 is Apple still selling 256GB of SSD for $200? Is it made of unobtanium?

I’m not currently in the market for a Macbook but the above price gouging put me off buying one last time I was thinking about it and I just checked to see if they were still doing it.

You would be paying for California. Literally.

The worst thing is he is kind of paying for nothing. It’s not like Cambodia is full of Mac elitists that look down on you if you don’t have Apple products. Over there they are impressed if you have a computer at all, even if you got it for $2.50 on Aliexpress.

Intel Resumes Free Coffee, Tea To Boost Morale After Laying Off 15,000 Employees
Seriously? They previously took it away? What’s the median Intel employee salary? It would have to be at least 80K I would have thought. Taking it away in the first place is some petty ass bean counting from someone in management who is focused on all the wrong things.
Anyway, glad they made things right. “Here’s your no name tea bag and 15 grams of instant coffee we bought in bulk. Do you love us now?”

It’s not a cafe it’s a job! The plebes will take what they’re given and like it!

Baseline functionality- stupid.

Cable management at the old CRS location…
It’s probably all run in a cloud now.

It’s kind of an important issue. When AT&T bought my previous employer, they took away our free coffee and people were pissed. Including me. I think that might be one of the most impactful cheap benefits for employees.
-
I haven’t got a link anymore but I went looking for the story of when Intel took it away. One Israeli employee said it was embarrassing, which it really would be. “Place I work is too cheap or broke to supply coffee”.
Putting aside the negative impact of removing it, caffeine is like a legal performance enhancing drug. I’d be walking around offering refills.

Shoot that’s exactly what Santo Domingo looks like. They wait for power outages and then tap off the electric lines into their homes. It’s absolutely chaos. It’s also amazing that the place hasn’t burned to the ground.
