I’m saying they started selling harvested data early on without consent and that’s evil.

Coming the Trainlord, that’s rich. Nothing is more evil than trains.

Trains don’t take things without permission. Well eminent domain but that’s a process.

Instead you pay to get stuff moved. If you ask for it. Nicely. And have your money ready.

I’m pretty sure all those innocent people didn’t ask the trains to take their lives

Trains…… go on tracks…. you look both ways before crossing…. it ain’t hard to avoid them.

Evil cannot be avoided. It must be defeated.

Those guys were losers. And looks like the shipper didn’t disclose the volatility.

How do you differentiate these “losers” from the rest of big rail? All the same to me.

Obviously, but my point was just that they’re all terrorists in the end.

Accident rate and one man crews and loser engineers like the one that didn’t set hand brakes.

Nor the gender of the various connectors . . .

“I think in the ‘old days’ that connector with the pointy things sticking out may have been considered a male connector, but the back cover looks pink to me? Could it identify as female? We shouldn’t assume, I guess.”

I’m a big fan of open source software. Partly because I’m a tightarse but also because when shit inevitably goes wrong with software you have options beyond reporting it through the vendor’s support channels which is often about as effective as farting into a gale.

Two things open source does particularly poorly sometimes though is UI design and audio systems. Some of the biggest apps in open source have the weirdest, most illogical user interfaces and you have to be a rocket scientist to understand the interaction between Pulse Audio, JACK, ALSA, Pipewire etc and the myriad ways they interact. Shitty UI and incomprehensible audio systems come together perfectly in a program called Ardour, a DAW, which I’ve spent three days first trying to get working and then trying to get it to do what I want it to. I’m kind of there now but fuck me.

Ardour works fine on Mac ;-)

The open source ‘desktop’ world was its own worst enemy. Android/ChromeOS has proven you can create a UI atop open source that is usable by 10s of millions of idiots but in order to do that it took a governing body with financial incentives to create and maintain the over all look and feel.

The Gnome and KDE people spent too much time fighting to be the ‘best’ linux desktop and lost way to much time/ground on Windows and MacOS. Nobody cares that today both Gnome and KDE offer very usable UIs as 99.9% of people who ‘need’ Unix as a desktop just run Macs and everyone else still uses windows.

Employee arrested for locking Windows admins out of 254 servers in extortion plot

A former core infrastructure engineer at an industrial company headquartered in Somerset County, New Jersey, was arrested after locking Windows admins out of 254 servers in a failed extortion plot targeting his employer.

Using the name “TheFr0zenCrew!” might have tipped the authorities off that it was an inside job. It sounds kinda ghey and a hella-dated for 2024.
