Pretty cool explanation of how phased arrays work without the maths. When he was showing the example at the end, I so wanted to put a square over the return and send an AIM 120.

My curiosity is indeed tickled, but not to the extent that I would try to follow in this guy’s footsteps.

You think that’s complicated, this shit looks like it would take months to build.

Good examples of phase array. Most military aircraft with air defense capability now use phase array radar. I recall seeing these big Pave Paws antennas back in the 80’s

Where I first encountered “phased arrays” is with RF antenna systems.
According to the document below, the phased array antenna system was first invented in 1905 by Karl F. Braun. He invented a number of other things as well and shared the Nobel Prize with Marconi.

They got much smaller after the 80s due to some improvement in materials science. I now have one in the bumper of my car and a bigger one in the nose of my jpeg F-18 . The newer AESA radars operate on multiple frequencies that helps it avoid jamming.

@Gators1 SAR radar has been out for a while now (20years?). I’ve seen some images they produce and it’s amazing the quality resolutions they have.
This Lynx system can easily show tire tracks on dirt roads. Two passes and they highlight the changes in images. Blue for new targets and Red for old targets that are gone from the second pass.

Pakoon is taking notes and thanks you.

We are in big trouble if he ever gets a third term.
Not necessarily. Sure would require a big change, though. Probably would not happen, but it could.
Framers of the constitution must have considered term limits, but left that out. The reign of King FDR caused that to change, but here is no reason the change couldn’t be modded. Just would not be easy.

Well if that haji hadn’t of run that stop sign in his little Toyota then maybe he wouldn’t be in pieces!

Does quantum porn mean that the old in-and-out trick can be both in and out at the same time?

Boston Dynamics have retired the hydraulic Atlas that we’re all familiar with. They’re replacing it with an all-electric model:
I have a feeling this new model is the one that’s going to be pushing us over with sticks and knocking shit out of our hands.

On the off chance that you are a fan of Anthony Burgess . . . . and possibly one who appreciates Joyce.
It’s time for (me) for a re-read of Re-Joyce, reviewed here 14 years ago.
“My book does not pretend to scholarship, only to a desire to help the average reader who wants to know Joyce’s work but has been scared off by the professors. The appearance of difficulty is part of Joyce’s big joke; the profundities are always expressed in good round Dublin terms; Joyce’s heroes are humble men.”

Sucks they have masks on. I wanted to be able to recognize them next time I see them making my coffee at Starbucks.

Where did they think their salaries come from?
Where were they when China killed all those Muslims or crushed Hong Kong?

There were something like 30 of those idiots fired already.
