That’s Google doing its thing, you may have to switch browsers to something not Chromium/Chrome based.

But this time it also disabled a spell check add on that I use for work. Weird.

You’re probably thinking of the Tor browser, which some people use to access the dark web I think? I’ve never used that, so I don’t completely know what its all about but I’ve heard good things regarding privacy, ad and tracker blocking. Wouldn’t surprise me if those types are using a browser which would help shield them.
