This came as a shock to me:
As of October 2025, there are approximately 8,475 Starlink satellites in orbit, with plans for up to 42,000 in the future. These satellites are part of SpaceX’s effort to provide global internet coverage.
It stands to reason that there’d be a lot of them, but 8,500 headed to 42,000 was a surprise.
Radio amateurs:

I remember the firs OSCAR which simply orbited the earth sending out HI in Morse code.
… (another .) … (minus one .)
Fucking forum only allows three of the same characters in a row, followed by either one “.” or “…” but not just two fucking dots!
dit dit dit dit, dit dit
And Starlink has some competition from Amazon.
Amazon’s satellite communication initiative is Project Kuiper, a low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation of over 3,200 satellites designed to provide fast, low-latency internet service globally. The project uses advanced communications payloads, including optical inter-satellite links (OISLs) for high-speed data transfer between spacecraft, and has begun a series of launches to deploy its initial constellation. While the full service launch is pending the deployment of more satellites, Amazon is working to become a competitor to existing satellite internet providers like Starlink.
Amazon is way behind though. They are still launching dildos full of tourists, not even their first orbital vehicles.
I can picture tourists filled with dildos but I am experiencing a failure of imagination picturing dildos filled with tourists.
Can you provide a photograph for me?

@oyaji NSA can probably get anything they need by accessing one’s browsing, download history, and web traffic, through an internet provider or group chat like Discord.
Of course, if someone does get arrested and a computer is seized, they’ll just get a search warrant for it’s contents and have some 11 year old hack into it to retrieve everything else.
Fck computers then.
Psst they can open your mail!
Legally?
With a warrant definitely. During WWII there was a lot of mail opening.
A lot of that started way back with the anarchist scares.
Nowadays theoretically only a warrant unless foreign or immediate threat. But of course there can be secret national security directives.

I went through Groupon and bought the Windows 11 license for around $10, far below the retail price.
I’ll probably buy this next through Groupon. It’s legit and works.

I tried giving flight instruction to the grandson of Wiley Post, who had an air mail connection among other notable achievements.
The grandson had good flight skills but was definitely lacking on the bookwork side. He never got the math calculations correct and finally admitted that decimal points confused him, so he simply left them out, yet continued using all the numbers after the point.
So, 3.141592 became 3142592. His weight and balance calculations put the CG about 150ft behind the plane.
His grandmother, Wiley’s wife, called me and was concerned about his progress and safety. She was funding his training but knew his limitations and was hoping he would find something else to do. He had a few more lessons after his first solo flight and then quit his training.
The world was a safer place.

I think you just said was that Jimmy Carter passed laws that you think were written by shortsighted men motivated by expediency, and that he benefited from them but you didn’t.
Your repeated insistence on skipping the use of proper nouns often make you very difficult to follow. I have no idea what law(s) to which you refer, how he benefited, and how you did not. Would you please elucidate?

Laws passed after WWI clarifying limits.
Presidents after Carter do not respect laws and the constitution, using national defense as an excuse and how Jimmy wouldn’t do that.

lulz Good one!
FWIW, I find the method taught to pilots to calculate CG to be unnecessarily complex in a vain effort to simplify the way an engineer does it.
